G R Infraprojects Ltd (GRIL) is likely to secure its third interstate transmission system (ISTS) project under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route. GRIL emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for the “Transmission scheme for integration of Tumkur‐II REZ in Karnataka” during the e-reverse auction conducted on August 6, 2024.
The project, coordinated by REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL), involves the development of key infrastructure, including a 400/220kV, 4×500 MVA Pooling Station near Tumkur, a 100 km 400kV double-circuit transmission line from Tumkur-II to Tumkur (Pavagada), and 2×125 MVAr, 420kV bus reactors. The project is expected to cost around Rs 7.93 billion and it is scheduled to be completed within 24 months from the date of the SPV’s formal transfer.
Qualified bidders for the project included PGCIL, Sterlite Power, Adani Energy Solutions Ltd, and Techno Electric & Engineering Company Ltd, though it is unclear which of these reached the final e-reverse auction stage.
