GE T&D India has secured a Rs 3.05 billion contract from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) to supply, install, test, commission, and maintain SCADA/EMS control centres in eastern India. This initiative is part of the “Unified Load Dispatch and Communication (ULDC) Phase-III SCADA/EMS Upgradation Project” for Eastern Regional State Load Dispatch Centres (SLDCs) and the Regional Load Dispatch Centre (RLDC).

The project involves the implementation of SCADA/EMS systems for several key power entities in the Eastern Region, including the Eastern Regional Load Despatch Centre (GRID-INDIA), Damodar Valley Corporation, West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company Ltd, Orissa Power Transmission Corporation Ltd, Jharkhand Urja Sancharan Nigam Ltd, Bihar State Power Transmission Power Corporation Ltd, and the Energy & Power Department of the Government of Sikkim.

As part of the project, seven new main control centres and seven backup control centres will be established in Kolkata, Howrah, Bhubaneswar, Sarwal, Patna, and Gangtok. The project is expected to be completed by February 2026.
