Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Ltd (MPPTCL) has initiated the remote monitoring and operation of its extra-high voltage AIS substations, starting with the 132kV AIS substation at Madhotal.Â
This substation will now be controlled remotely from the nearby 220kV Jabalpur substation, marking a significant milestone for the state in improving power transmission efficiency.
Following this success, MPPTCL plans to extend remote operations to three more old substations. The 132kV substations at Ayodhya Nagar (Bhopal) and Satyasi (Indore) are next in line for remote unmanned operations.Â
This initiative is part of the Substation Automation System (SAS), developed using modern technology and in-house innovations. This technology enables faster fault analysis and reduced restoration times.
MPPTCL is utilizing its Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) system, a fibre optic network also developed in-house, to facilitate remote operations through Human Machine Interface (HMI) technology.
