NTPC forms SPV to develop nuclear power plants

On January 7, 2025, NTPC Limited incorporated NTPC Parmanu Urja Nigam Limited (NPUNL), a special purpose vehicle (SPV) for the implementation of Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs).
The Ministry of Power (MoP) has confirmed the approval for the SPV formation, with concurrence from the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) and NITI Aayog.
The NPUNL will focus on planning and executing an integrated program to harness nuclear energy for commercial electricity generation and other purposes.
The SPV will also be responsible for the construction, ownership, operation, and management (BOOM) of Nuclear Power Plants, as well as promoting research and development and selecting suitable sites for NPPs and associated facilities.
