Hitachi Energy is investing over CZK1.1bn ($47m) to expand its High Voltage Products factory in Brno, Czech Republic.
This expansion, expected to be completed by the end of 2025, aims to increase the factory’s production capacity by over 40% and create up to 200 new jobs.
The Brno facility, operational since 2007, manufactures critical components for gas-insulated switchgear, which are essential for electricity transmission and distribution. These products play a key role in integrating renewable energy into power grids, ensuring grid stability and reliability.
The expansion will introduce advanced production technologies, including a new welding shop, robotised powder coating, and a service centre incorporating digital technologies.
The factory will produce high-voltage products ranging from 72.5kV to 500kV and components for Hitachi Energy’s EconiQ portfolio, which aims to replace sulfur hexafluoride in high-voltage equipment.
