Offshore contractor DEME has secured a contract to transport and install inter-array cables and secondary steel components for the 800 MW OranjeWind offshore wind farm in the Dutch North Sea. The wind farm, located 53 km from the Dutch coast, is a joint venture between RWE and TotalEnergies.
DEME’s scope includes the installation of 114 km of inter-array cables connecting 53 foundations to the offshore substation. Scheduled to start in the second half of 2026, DEME will deploy offshore and cable installation vessels, a hopper dredger, a fall pipe vessel, and other supporting equipment. Pre-sweeping activities will ensure proper cable burial amid sand waves, with rocks used to stabilize cables near the offshore substation and at crossing points with existing assets.
The secondary steelwork involves transporting and installing boat landings, access platforms, and internal platforms at monopile foundations, providing a comprehensive infrastructure solution for the wind farm. This contract adds to DEME’s recent portfolio of cable projects, including collaborations with Prysmian and Hellenic Cables for high-voltage subsea systems in the Netherlands and Belgium.
