The Yunlin offshore wind farm, managed by Yunneng Wind Power, has begun commercial operations after installing all 80 wind turbine generators. The 640MW project, located in the Taiwan Strait between 8km and 17km offshore Yunlin County, is now supplying electricity to the Taiwanese grid.

Yunneng Wind Power is a joint venture between Skyborn Renewables, TotalEnergies, the Electricity Generating Public Company (EGCO), and Sojitz Corporation. The wind farm spans 82km², with turbines placed in water depths ranging from 7m to 35m. Electricity is transmitted to the grid through two onshore substations near Taixi and Sihu townships.

TotalEnergies’ senior vice-president for renewables, Olivier Jouny, expressed satisfaction with the project’s completion, highlighting its contribution to Taiwan’s 2025 target of 5.7GW of offshore wind power. The wind farm is expected to produce 2,400GWh of clean energy annually, enough to power 600,000 homes and reduce CO₂ emissions by 1.2 million tonnes each year.

The Taiwan Power Company has secured the wind farm’s output under a 20-year power purchase agreement. The project will meet 90% of Yunlin County’s non-industrial electricity demand.

EGCO Group president Jiraporn Sirikum praised the Taiwanese government for its support, noting that the achievement aligns with EGCO Group’s strategy for sustainable growth.
