Waaree Energies Limited has inaugurated a 5.4 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Chikhli, Gujarat. Spanning 150 acres, with a built-up area of 101 acres, the plant is equipped with high-efficiency solar cell technology to strengthen India’s domestic solar manufacturing capabilities.
The facility is expected to generate over 9,500 direct jobs and approximately 30,000 indirect employment opportunities. It aims to reduce India’s dependence on solar imports while boosting the country’s renewable energy sector.
Previous week, Waaree Renewable Energy Technologies Limited secured a Letter of Award (LoA) worth Rs 2,323 million from Waaree Energies for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) work. The contract involves setting up a 170 MW/255 MWp capacity under Unit-III of the Neemuch Solar Power Park Project in Madhya Pradesh.
