Uttar Pradesh is set to boost its renewable energy capacity with solar projects worth around Rs 35,000 crore. The state aims to reach 22,000 MW by 2027–28, including seven solar parks totaling 3,700 MW.

Leading developers such as NHPC, THDC, and Avaada Group are driving these projects. Of the target, 8,000 MW is already operational or under development, with the remaining 14,000 MW planned through solar parks, rooftop systems, floating plants, and standalone projects.

Rooftop solar has reached 900 MW under the UP Solar Energy Policy 2022, supported by Capex and RESCO models. Floating solar plants are planned across 37 reservoirs, while bioenergy initiatives include CBG plants with 250 tonnes daily capacity. Model Solar Villages are also being developed in each district.

The state’s integrated policy approach and public-private participation aim to make UP a leading solar hub, supporting India’s clean energy transition and local employment.
