Three companies have clinched major awards this week, strengthening their foothold in India’s power transmission and distribution (T&D) sector.
Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Private Limited (TOSHIBA) secured a contract worth Rs 2.66 billion for the 400kV Transformer Package 4TR06BULK under Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd’s (PGCIL) bulk procurement of 765kV and 400kV transformers and reactors. The company outbid Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and Transformers & Rectifiers India Limited (T&R), the latter being disqualified from the bid.
Meanwhile, Hitachi Energy India Limited emerged as the winner of a Rs 2.89 billion contract for the 765kV Reactor Package 7RT-17-BULK, which includes 30X80MVAR, 765kV single-phase reactors. The contract was also awarded under PGCIL’s bulk procurement of high-voltage transformers and reactors. Hitachi Energy outbid BHEL, CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited, and GE Vernova T&D India Limited to secure the project.
Adding to the list of major wins, Transrail Lighting Ltd (TLL) reported securing new orders worth Rs 27.52 billion, primarily from the power T&D business. These contracts have pushed the company’s cumulative order inflows for FY25 past Rs 74 billion, marking an impressive 90 per cent year-on-year growth.
