THDC India Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and a power purchase agreement with the Government of Gujarat and Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL). The deal covers the supply of 184.08 MW of clean power from the Tehri pumped storage project (PSP) in Uttarakhand.
The agreement aims to support Gujarat’s peak electricity needs and improve the integration of renewable energy into the state grid. The Tehri PSP will play a key role in grid balancing by providing flexible hydropower during high-demand periods.
The project features four reversible pump turbine units of 250 MW each. Once fully commissioned, the total installed capacity of the Tehri Hydro Power Complex will rise to 2,400 MW.
Currently, THDC operates the 1,000 MW Tehri Hydro Power Project and the 400 MW Koteshwar Hydro Electric Project at the same complex. The Tehri PSP is being developed by THDC India Limited, a joint venture of NTPC Limited and the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
