THDC commissions Unit II of Tehri pumped storage project

THDC India Limited has declared the commercial operation of Unit II (250 MW) of its Tehri pumped storage project (PSP).
The project, located in Uttarakhand, has a total planned capacity of 1,000 MW and includes four reversible pump turbine units of 250 MW each. The first unit entered commercial operations in June 2025.
The Tehri PSP has been implemented by THDC, a joint venture between NTPC Limited and the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
With Unit II now online, the total installed and commercial capacity of THDC India Limited stands at 2,747 MW.
