Tata Power posts strong Q3 as renewable, manufacturing units drive growth

Tata Power Company Limited reported robust financial performance for the third quarter and nine month period of fiscal year 2026, led by strong growth in its renewable energy, manufacturing, and distribution businesses.
For the quarter ended December 31, 2025, Tata Power recorded consolidated profit after tax of Rs 1,194 crore. Revenue stood at Rs 14,485 crore, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation came in at Rs 3,913 crore. For the nine month period, consolidated profit after tax rose 7% year on year to Rs 3,702 crore, and EBITDA increased 12% year on year to Rs 11,874 crore.
The renewable energy business delivered strong gains, with Q3 profit after tax rising 156% year on year to Rs 547 crore. The solar cell and module manufacturing segment reported a 124% year on year increase in profit after tax to Rs 251 crore. The distribution business also saw sharp growth, with overall profit after tax increasing 167% year on year to Rs 746 crore, driven mainly by improved performance of the Odisha distribution companies. The transmission business reported an 80% year on year rise in profit after tax to Rs 166 crore.
During the quarter, Tata Power crossed 10 GW of cumulative engineering, procurement, and construction renewable projects executed. The company commissioned around 1.3 GW of renewable capacity in Q3, taking total installed capacity to 16.3 GW. The rooftop solar business added 1 GWp during the nine month period, taking cumulative installations beyond 4 GWp. In transmission, key projects were commissioned, and a letter of intent was received for the acquisition of a 226 circuit kilometre power transmission project.
Commenting on the results, Praveer Sinha said the performance reflected strong execution across all business verticals. He noted that Tata Power now serves over 13 million distribution customers and continues to focus on scaling clean energy capacity and strengthening system resilience to meet India’s growing power demand.
