Tata Power outlined its medium-term growth strategy at its Analyst Meet held on 15 December 2025, with a focus on clean and green energy, transmission, distribution, and emerging technologies. The company said it is targeting a total operational capacity of 30 GW by FY30, of which 20 GW is planned from clean and green sources such as renewable energy, hydro, and pumped storage projects. The roadmap is aligned with India’s target of 500 GW non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

Tata Power stated that it aims to reach 20 GW of operational clean and green capacity by FY30, up from its current 7.1 GW in operation. A further 10.4 GW is under construction or at the pre-project stage. Planned additions include 2.8 GW of pumped storage projects, comprising 1 GW under construction and 1.8 GW at the pre-project stage, and 5.8 GW of renewable energy capacity. The portfolio also includes hybrid and firm and dispatchable renewable energy projects, such as 460 MW with SJVN and 200 MW with NTPC. In the hydro segment, the company highlighted expansion in Bhutan through the 600 MW Khorlochhu project, scheduled for commissioning in 2029, and the 1,125 MW Dorjilung project targeted for 2032. Tata Power said it plans annual capacity additions of around 3 GW from FY25 onwards.

On manufacturing, Tata Power announced plans to set up 10 GW of ingot and wafer manufacturing capacity to strengthen its solar value chain. The proposed investment is Rs 6,500 crore, with completion targeted within 18 to 24 months. This will be in addition to the company’s existing 4.9 GW solar cell and module manufacturing facilities.

In rooftop solar, the company is targeting a compound annual growth rate of 38 per cent to reach revenue of Rs 30,000 crore by FY30. Tata Power said it has already installed 3 GW of rooftop solar capacity and secured orders of 907 MWp in the first half of FY26 across more than 700 cities.

In transmission, Tata Power plans to expand its network to 10,000 circuit kilometres by FY30, compared with 4,736 circuit kilometres currently operational. A further 2,349 circuit kilometres are under construction. Key projects include the Gopalpur transmission project with a length of 377 circuit kilometres, expected to be completed by FY28, and the Paradeep project spanning 384 circuit kilometres, targeted for FY27.

In distribution, the company aims to increase its consumer base to 40 million by FY30 from around 13 million at present. The Odisha distribution companies are expected to see annual capital expenditure of Rs 1,300 crore to Rs 1,400 crore, with regulated equity projected to grow by 62 per cent by FY30.

Tata Power also outlined its focus on emerging technologies, including perovskite solar cells, advanced battery technologies such as zinc-ion and sodium-ion batteries, carbon dioxide utilisation, small modular reactors, superconductors, and cooling as a service, with a planned capacity of 0.5 million tonnes of refrigeration.

The company said it is planning total capital expenditure of Rs 1.25 lakh crore during FY26 to FY30, with around 65 per cent allocated to clean, green, and sustainability-focused businesses. Tata Power reiterated its long-term sustainability objective of achieving net-zero emissions by 2045.
