Indonesia to retire coal-fired power plants by 2040

Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto has announced plans to retire all coal-fired power plants by 2040, advancing the previous target of 2056.  At the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro on 19 November 2024, Subianto emphasized the need for global collaboration to achieve net-zero emissions before 2050.
