Draft rules allow energy storage systems to operate independently or with grids

The Ministry of Power has released draft amendments to Rule 18 of the Electricity Rules, 2005 clarifying how Energy Storage Systems (ESS) can be used in India’s power sector. CEA issues procedure for verifying captive status of generating plants across states

The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has introduced a new procedure to verify the captive status of generating plants where the Captive Generating Plant (CGP) and its users are in different states.  Effective from FY 2024-25, this procedure ensures compliance with Rule 3 of the Electricity Rules, 2005, as amended on September 1, 2023.
