Renewable energy developer OX2 has acquired its first onshore wind project in Western Australia, with a planned capacity of 1GW. Located north of Perth, the project is in the early development stages and will include a 100MW battery energy storage system. The acquisition involves collaboration with 20 landowners, and the original developers will continue to oversee the approval process alongside OX2.
This acquisition is part of OX2’s strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio in Australia. OX2 Australia country manager Rachel Watson emphasized the company’s commitment to contributing to Australia’s decarbonization efforts through wind and solar power.
In September 2024, OX2 sold a 119 MW solar farm in Victoria, which will generate 242 GWh annually, powering 51,000 households. The solar farm is expected to become operational by 2027.
