A recent survey, “Solar Spectrum of New India,” by Luminous Power Technologies, reveals rising consumer interest in solar energy in India, yet highlights affordability and skilled labour as key barriers.
The survey indicates that 52% of respondents would consider solar power with better financing options, while 92% see installation costs as a primary deterrent. Despite 76% of participants noting easy access to solar technologies, high costs remain a hurdle, especially in price-sensitive areas.
Regional insights show tier 1 and 2 cities like Jaipur and Bengaluru leading in solar awareness and adoption, with Jaipur achieving 79.71% awareness, while Hyderabad lags at 6.58%. Cities such as Ahmedabad, Kochi, and Bengaluru report concerns over skilled labour, with 40% of Ahmedabad respondents citing a shortage of specialized training programs, and 63.3% noting a lack of career awareness in solar.
Luminous CEO Preeti Bajaj emphasized the need to improve financing schemes and skill development programs to support solar growth. Luminous is committed to making solar energy affordable and accessible across India by collaborating with industry partners to bridge these gaps.
