Author: PPD Team Date: March 20, 2026

SJVN Limited has reported that its 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project has generated 1 billion units (BU) of electricity, achieving the milestone on March 20, 2026, less than three months after its commercial operation date (COD) on December 24, 2025.

The project is being implemented through SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN, and is located in Bikaner district, Rajasthan. It has been developed under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme Phase II, Tranche III of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). The foundation stone was laid by President Droupadi Murmu on January 3, 2023 in Jaipur.

Over a 25-year operational period, the project is expected to generate around 56 billion units cumulatively and reduce carbon emissions by approximately 2.78 million tonnes. In the first year, generation is projected at about 2,454.55 million units. The tariff has been set at Rs 2.57 per unit, with power supply allocated to Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttarakhand.

Portfolio context

The Bikaner project milestone follows recent generation records across SJVN’s portfolio. Its Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station crossed 150 billion units of cumulative generation on March 9, 2026, indicating continued output growth across hydro and solar assets.

SJVN’s Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) stated that the project reflects execution capability in large-scale renewable projects and reiterated the company’s focus on India’s 500 GW non-fossil fuel target. The Director (Personnel) described the project as a reference for scale and execution timelines.
