On May 9, 2025, six firms secured bids to develop 1,200 MW of Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected solar power projects along with 600 MW/2,400 MWh energy storage systems (ESS) anywhere in India. The tender was issued by SJVN in August 2024 under a build-own-operate (BOO) model.

The winners and their awarded capacities are:

  • SAEL Industries Limited: 150 MW solar + 75 MW/300 MWh ESS at Rs 3.32/kWh

  • Sembcorp Green Infra Private Limited (SEIL subsidiary): 150 MW solar + 75 MW/300 MWh ESS at Rs 3.32/kWh

  • JBM Renewables Private Limited: 150 MW solar + 75 MW/300 MWh ESS at Rs 3.32/kWh

  • Jindal India Renewable Energy Limited (JPL subsidiary): 300 MW solar + 150 MW/600 MWh ESS at Rs 3.32/kWh

  • Fastnote Biofuels Private Limited (HPPPL subsidiary): 100 MW solar + 50 MW/200 MWh ESS at Rs 3.33/kWh

  • Reliance NU Energies Private Limited (RPL subsidiary): 350 MW solar + 175 MW/700 MWh ESS at Rs 3.33/kWh, under bucket-filling method

Bidders were allowed flexibility in technology and could propose capacities between 50 MW and 600 MW. Projects could be under construction or commissioned if not tied to prior state or central schemes. SPDs will develop a dedicated transmission network and ensure connectivity to ISTS.

SJVN will sign 25-year power purchase agreements with selected developers. The scheduled commencement of supply is 24 months from the PPA signing date.
