Siemens has announced the acquisition of Trayer Engineering, a US-based company specializing in medium voltage secondary distribution switchgear, as part of its strategy to expand its grid modernization portfolio. While the financial details remain undisclosed, the acquisition will enhance Siemens’ capabilities in addressing challenges posed by extreme weather, particularly in secondary power distribution.
By integrating Trayer’s expertise in submersible switchgear, Siemens aims to bolster grid efficiency, particularly in flood-prone areas. Trayer’s padmount switchgear, essential for safe and efficient electrical distribution, will now benefit from Siemens’ global market reach.
Founded in 1962, Trayer Engineering will continue to operate independently under its brand as part of Siemens’ electrification and automation division. The acquisition is expected to be finalized in 2024, pending regulatory approvals.
