Serentica to invest Rs 1 lakh crore in Rajasthan renewable projects
Serentica Renewables has announced plans to invest Rs 1 lakh crore in Rajasthan over the coming years, with more than Rs 10,000 crore already invested in the state. The company said Rajasthan accounts for more than 50% of its total solar portfolio, with major projects located in Bikaner and Jaisalmer and further expansion planned in Bhadla.
The company currently has an operational renewable energy portfolio of more than 2,500 MW, while another 3,000 MW is under construction. These projects form part of Serentica’s planned renewable energy pipeline of 27,000 MW. According to the company, the portfolio is expected to supply 67 billion units of clean energy annually and help avoid 47 million tonnes of carbon dioxide (COâ‚‚) emissions.
BESS expansion
As part of its next phase of expansion, Serentica will commission Phase I of what it describes as the region’s largest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Bikaner. The first phase will have a storage capacity of 200 MWh and is intended to support round-the-clock clean power supply for industrial consumers.
The company said a second phase, adding 800 MWh of storage capacity, is expected to become operational in the next quarter in the Bikaner region.
Serentica also plans to expand its Fatehgarh solar platform with an initial capacity of 1,270 MWp, followed by an additional 500 MWp and a 2,500 MWh battery energy storage system during FY 2026–27.
Apart from renewable energy infrastructure, the company said it has committed more than Rs 3.8 crore towards education, teacher training and local infrastructure development in Rajasthan through its EdIndia and ‘Vikas’ initiatives.
