Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited exchanged Government Orders with the Government of Andhra Pradesh for a 1200 MWh BESS in Nandyal and a 50 MW hybrid solar project. The agreement was completed during the Energy Session of the Andhra Pradesh Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam.

The Ministry of Power assigned SECI the role of implementing agency for the BESS project through an order issued on 23 January 2025 under Market Based Operations. The SECI Board Chairman Shri Santosh Kumar Sarangi cleared the project on 22 October 2025. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has been tracking the development of both projects from early stages.

SECI will develop the BESS and the hybrid solar project under the CAPEX mode. The organisation will handle the full investment requirement.

The collaboration supports Andhra Pradesh’s renewable energy plans and increases storage capacity in the state. The projects also advance national goals to expand clean energy infrastructure and improve grid resilience.
