SECI awards 6.25 MW rooftop solar projects under RESCO auction

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has announced the results of its 6.25 MW grid connected rooftop solar projects auction conducted under the renewable energy service company mode. The projects will be implemented at government institutions across six Indian states.

Enfros Solutions emerged as one of the successful bidders. The company will set up rooftop solar systems at the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda with a capacity of 1,000 kW, Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal with 960 kW, Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar with 860 kW, and Indian Institute of Management, Amritsar with 350 kW. All capacities were secured at a tariff of Rs 3.34 per kWh.

Sesola Power Projects will develop a 350 kW project at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, RaeBareli, at a tariff of Rs 3.93 per kWh, and an 85 kW project at the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Surat, at Rs 4.65 per kWh.

Himalayan Solar will set up a 1,500 kW rooftop solar project at the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra. The capacity was awarded at a tariff of Rs 3.69 per kWh.

In addition, Sesola Power Projects will install a 300 kW system at the School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada, at a tariff of Rs 3.85 per kWh. Stockwell Solar Services will set up a 350 kW project at Dr. Hari Singh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar, at a tariff of Rs 3.87 per kWh.

Separately, SECI has signed a memorandum of understanding with Green Energy Development Corporation of Odisha (GEDCOL), Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC), and Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA). The collaboration aims to develop 1,000 MWh of battery energy storage system capacity, pumped storage projects, 2.5 GW of floating solar or solar projects with battery energy storage systems, along with other renewable energy technologies.

According to SECI, the proposed initiatives are expected to strengthen Odisha’s renewable energy infrastructure and support job creation through direct and indirect opportunities linked to project development and associated activities.
