Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) worth Rs 7,298.21 million for loss reduction works in the Central zone under the Himachal Pradesh Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB) invited bids for the project in March 2024. The work is expected to be completed in 24 months.

The scheme aims to strengthen, renovate, and augment the existing power distribution infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh to improve efficiency and reduce losses.

As per the latest Rajya Sabha answers, Himachal Pradesh has sanctioned 28,491,908 smart meters under RDSS, awarded 9,34,409 meters, and installed 1,03,524 meters. This indicates that while a significant number of smart meters have been sanctioned, the pace of installation remains slow, with only about 11% of the awarded meters installed.
