Reliance Industries Limited will acquire a 100% equity stake in Lakadia B Power Transmission from REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) for Rs 80 million. The acquisition aims to develop an interstate transmission system (ISTS) to evacuate up to 3.5 GW of renewable energy from Lakadia, Gujarat.
The transmission system will be designed to augment the transformation capacity at the 765/400 kV Lakadia substation under Part B of the project. It will integrate 2.5 GW of power in addition to the initial 1 GW from various renewable energy projects within the Lakadia renewable energy zone.
Reliance will handle the project’s design, engineering, construction, testing, and commissioning. The company will operate and maintain the system on a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) basis, while also taking responsibility for project financing, clearances, land compensation, and survey management.
The project will also include a 22 kV line bay for several renewable energy developers and the installation of a 1×330 MVAr 765 kV bus reactor with an associated bay. The Lakadia substation’s transformation capacity will be augmented with a 1×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV ICT.
