REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, has signed key agreements for deploying 3.32 million smart prepaid meters in Gujarat under Phase II of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

The agreements were signed with Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited (PGVCL) and cover both the project implementation agency (PIA) role and distribution development fund support. The project will follow a design, build, finance, own, operate, and transfer (DBFOOT) model.

RECPDCL has also finalised the advanced metering infrastructure service provider (AMISP) contract with Bharat Grid Private Limited, a joint venture between Actis and EDF India.

The initiative is part of the broader RDSS effort to modernise power distribution systems. It aims to reduce aggregate technical and commercial losses, enhance consumer experience, and improve operational efficiency through digital metering and real-time monitoring.

The signing ceremony was attended by K.P. Joshi, IAS, Managing Director of PGVCL; T.S.C. Bosh, CEO of RECPDCL; Saurabh Rastogi, Executive Director of RECPDCL; R.J. Vala, Chief Engineer at PGVCL; Christophe Feuillard, CEO of Bharat Grid Private Limited; and other officials from PGVCL, RECPDCL, and Bharat Grid.
