RECPDCL incorporates SPV for Madhya Pradesh transmission project
REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC Limited, has incorporated Kukshi Alirajpur Transmission Limited as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the project, “Strengthening of Intra-State Transmission System at Kukshi/ Alirajpur Area by Establishment of New EHV Substations & Associated Transmission Lines” in Madhya Pradesh.
The transmission scheme is aimed at strengthening the intra-state network in the Kukshi and Alirajpur areas to meet growing electricity demand, improve grid reliability and increase power transfer capability. It will be implemented on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis with a concession period of 35 years from the Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (COD). The overall Scheduled COD is 24 months from the Effective Date.
Kukshi substation
The project includes a new conventional Air Insulated Substation (AIS) rated at 400/220/132/33 kV near Kukshi in Dhar district. The facility will have two 500 MVA, 400/220 kV Interconnecting Transformers (ICTs), two 200 MVA, 220/132 kV ICTs and two 50 MVA, 132/33 kV ICTs, along with one 125 MVAR, 420 kV switchable bus reactor.
At the 400 kV level, the substation will use a One & Half Breaker scheme comprising two ICT bays, four line bays for the Loop-In Loop-Out (LILO) of the Sardar Sarovar HEP-Rajgarh line and one bus reactor bay. The 220 kV system will follow a Double Main & Transfer (DMT) scheme with four ICT bays, six line bays, one bus coupler bay and one transfer bus coupler bay.
The 132 kV system will use a Single Main & Transfer (SMT) scheme with four ICT bays, three line bays, two transfer bus coupler bays and one bus sectionalizer set. At 33 kV, the configuration will comprise two ICT bays, seven line bays, one bus sectionalizer bay, two bus coupler bays and two HT shunt capacitor bank bays.
Alirajpur substation
A new 220/132/33 kV conventional AIS will also be developed near Alirajpur in Alirajpur district. It will be equipped with two 200 MVA, 220/132 kV ICTs and two 50 MVA, 132/33 kV ICTs.
The 220 kV system will have a DMT configuration consisting of two ICT bays, two line bays, one bus coupler bay and one transfer bus coupler bay. The 132 kV system will use an SMT scheme with four ICT bays, 10 line bays, one bus sectionalizer set and two transfer bus coupler bays. The 33 kV system will include two ICT bays, six line bays, one bus sectionalizer bay, two transfer bus coupler bays and two HT shunt capacitor bank bays.
Transmission lines
The associated transmission system includes LILO of both circuits of the 400 kV Sardar Sarovar HEP–Rajgarh (PGCIL) line at the Kukshi substation and LILO of both circuits of the 220 kV Julwaniya–Kukshi DCDS line at Kukshi. One circuit of the 132 kV Kukshi–Jobat line will also be LILOed at the new Kukshi substation.
At Alirajpur, both circuits of the 132 kV Kukshi–Alirajpur line will be LILOed into the new substation. The scope also includes LILO of one circuit of the 132 kV DCSS line from Alirajpur to the LIS Alirajpur scheme of Narmada Valley Development Authority (NVDA).
New transmission infrastructure comprises a 220 kV DCDS line connecting the Kukshi and Alirajpur substations and a 132 kV DCSS line from Kukshi to the existing 132 kV Pati substation. A new 132 kV DCDS line will connect Alirajpur with the existing 132 kV Jobat substation, including two bays at Jobat, while another 132 kV DCDS line will run from Alirajpur to the Ambaja (TBCB) 132 kV substation, including two bays at Ambaja.
