RECPDCL incorporates SPV for Nawada–Durgapur transmission project

REC Limited has informed the stock exchanges that its wholly owned subsidiary, REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), has incorporated a new wholly owned subsidiary, Nawada Durgapur Power Transmission Limited, for the implementation of an interstate transmission project.

The incorporation follows the Gazette Notification issued by the Ministry of Power on March 24, 2026, which allocated the interstate transmission scheme “ERES-47: Nawada–Durgapur–Jeerat (New) 765 kV corridor” to RECPDCL and appointed it as the Bid Process Coordinator (BPC).

As the BPC, RECPDCL is responsible for undertaking the bid process under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework through the incorporated SPV.

The transmission scheme includes the development of a new 765/400/220 kV substation at Nawada in Bihar and a 765 kV switching station at Durgapur in West Bengal, with provision for future expansion to 765/400 kV.

The project also covers the installation of Interconnecting Transformers (ICTs), bus reactors and switchable line reactors. In addition, the scope includes loop-in and loop-out (LILO) of the Gaya–Ballia 765 kV single-circuit transmission line at Nawada, involving approximately 82 km each for the loop-in and loop-out sections.

The transmission network will further comprise a 258 km 765 kV double-circuit transmission line between Nawada and Durgapur (New), and a 152 km 765 kV transmission line between Durgapur (New) and Jeerat (New).

The scheduled completion date for the project is March 31, 2029.

The newly incorporated company has been created exclusively for the implementation of the transmission project under the TBCB mechanism.

Following completion of the competitive bidding process, Nawada Durgapur Power Transmission Limited will be transferred to the successful bidder along with all its assets and liabilities in accordance with the TBCB guidelines.
