REC Power Distribution Company Limited (REC PDCL) has invited bids for selection of a transmission service provider (TSP) to implement transmission system strengthening works at Davanagere for renewable energy (RE) integration in Karnataka. The request for proposal (RfP) was issued on May 15, 2025. Bids are due by July 18, 2025.

The project will be awarded through tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis. REC PDCL is the bid process coordinator (BPC) for this initiative.

The transmission package includes three main components:

  1. Augmentation at Davanagere pooling station: Installation of four 500 MVA, 400/220 kV interconnecting transformers (ICTs), along with four 400 kV bays and four 220 kV bays. The scheduled commercial operation date (COD) is 24 months from the effective date.

  2. Expansion at Davanagere or Chitradurga pooling station: Addition of one 765/400 kV, 1500 MVA ICT with associated bays—one 765 kV bay, one 400 kV bay, one 220 kV bus sectionalizer, two 220 kV bus coupler bays, and two 220 kV transfer bus coupler bays.

  3. New 220 kV line bays: Installation of two 220 kV line bays at either Davanagere or Chitradurga pooling stations to enable connection of dedicated transmission lines from renewable energy projects.

This scheme is aimed at reinforcing the transmission infrastructure needed to accommodate growing renewable generation capacity in Karnataka.
