Q1 FY26 results: PowerGrid, Tata Power, Coal India, Adani Power, ABB India

Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) reported a 2.5 per cent fall in net profit to Rs 3,630.58 crore. Revenue rose 2 per cent to Rs 11,196 crore. Net profit margin slipped to 32 per cent from 34 per cent. Operating margin was stable at 85 per cent. 

Segment-wise, consultancy revenue grew 120 per cent to Rs 405.92 crore, and telecom rose 18 per cent to Rs 289.49 crore. PowerGrid raised its FY26 borrowing limit to Rs 25,000 crore and secured approval to raise Rs 30,000 crore in FY27 through bonds.

Tata Power reported a net profit of Rs 1,262.3 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2025, up 6.2 per cent year-on-year. Revenue rose 4.6 per cent to Rs 18,035 crore, while EBITDA increased 17.2 per cent to Rs 4,139 crore. The EBITDA margin stood at 23 per cent.

The renewables division posted a 95 per cent rise in profit after tax to Rs 531 crore. TP Solar contributed Rs 100 crore to net profit. The solar segment’s EBITDA more than doubled to Rs 823 crore.

Coal India posted a 20.2 per cent decline in net profit to Rs 8,743.38 crore, compared to the same quarter last year. Revenue fell 4.4 per cent to Rs 35,842.19 crore. Profit before tax dropped 17.2 per cent to Rs 11,709.15 crore. The company declared an interim dividend of Rs 5.50 per share for FY26.

Adani Power saw its net profit fall 13.5 per cent year-on-year to Rs 3,385 crore. Revenue dropped 5.7 per cent to Rs 14,109 crore. EBITDA declined 8.2 per cent to Rs 5,685.2 crore. The company’s EBITDA margin narrowed to 40.3 per cent from 41.4 per cent. The board approved a stock split in a 1:5 ratio.

ABB India posted a 20.7 per cent decline in net profit to Rs 351.7 crore despite a 12.2 per cent rise in revenue to Rs 3,175.4 crore. EBITDA dropped 27 per cent to Rs 441 crore, and margins fell to 13 per cent from 19.2 per cent.
