MNRE issues new SOP for wind turbine and component certification
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has released a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers for Wind (ALMM-Wind) and the Wind Turbine Components list (ALMM-WTC), replacing the earlier Revised List of Models and Manufacturers (RLMM). The SOP sets a two-tier certification system covering turbines and their major components such as blades, towers, and gearboxes. Each certified turbine must identify its approved component vendors, and all manufacturers will undergo physical inspection under ISO/IEC 17020 standards. The SOP also mandates that turbine data centres be located in India to address cybersecurity concerns. The framework aims to ensure higher quality, safety, and transparency in India’s wind energy sector.
Serentica Renewables appoints Anil Kumar Singh as Director – Operations
Serentica Renewables has appointed Anil Kumar Singh as Director – Operations, reporting to CEO Akshay Hiranandani. Based in Mumbai, Singh brings over 33 years of experience across sectors including ports, petrochemicals, and renewable energy. He previously served as Chief Project Officer at Adani Green Energy and held senior roles at Tata Power and Tata Teleservices. The company said his leadership will enhance Serentica’s operational efficiency as it scales its renewable portfolio for industrial clients.
Suzlon Energy appoints Rahul Jain as Chief Financial Officer
Suzlon Energy Limited has appointed Rahul Jain as Chief Financial Officer effective December 15. Jain earlier served as Group CFO at SRF Limited for 17 years and worked at Jubilant Organosys Limited. Suzlon said his financial management expertise will strengthen its strategic and growth objectives. Vice Chairman Girish Tanti noted that Jain’s leadership will reinforce Suzlon’s financial systems and drive long-term value creation.
Insolation Energy subsidiary wins Rs 232 crore solar project order
Insolation Energy Limited announced that its subsidiary, Insolation Green Infra Private Limited, has secured a turnkey solar project order worth Rs 232.36 crore from Silgo Retail Limited. The 54 MW AC (70.20 MWp DC) grid-connected project will be developed under the KUSUM Scheme across multiple sites in Rajasthan between FY 2025 and FY 2027. The scope includes design, manufacturing, and commissioning. Earlier this month, Insolation Green Energy Private Limited created sixteen special purpose vehicles to advance renewable energy initiatives.
Voltamp Transformers wins Rs 149 crore order from GETCO
Voltamp Transformers Limited has received a Letter of Intent worth Rs 149 crore, including GST, from Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited (GETCO). The contract involves the design, manufacture, testing, and supply of power transformers of various ratings. Scheduled for completion within six months, the project strengthens Voltamp’s presence in India’s transformer market. The company recently completed manufacturing and testing of a 160 MVA, 220 kV transformer at its Makarpura facility.
KPI Green wins Rs 1,050 crore LOI for RTC green power project
KPI Green Energy Limited has received a Letter of Intent from UAE-based FVE Lifecare General Trading LLC for a 600 MW Round-the-Clock Green Power Project worth Rs 1,050 crore. The project will deliver continuous renewable power through integrated solar and battery energy storage systems. KPI plans to monetise carbon credits under frameworks like IRENA and UNFCCC and will begin installations in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh. The company also received charging approval for 40.96 MW of captive solar and hybrid projects.
Honda Motor acquires stake in OMC Power
Honda Motor Company has acquired an equity stake in India’s OMC Power to develop energy storage solutions using repurposed electric vehicle batteries. The partnership will extend the lifecycle of Honda’s detachable batteries and deploy them for distributed storage across rural areas. OMC Power operates over 500 renewable plants and supplies power to telecom and small enterprises. The collaboration begins in January 2026 and will promote clean energy access and EV battery reuse.

Hartek Power has completed a 300 MWAC (435 MWp DC) solar photovoltaic project in Rajasthan worth Rs 4.74 billion. The project was developed for a global renewable energy independent power producer and spans 1,209 acres. The company said the commissioning highlights its engineering and project execution capabilities while supporting India’s renewable energy targets.
Ministry of Coal to launch 14th round of commercial mine auctions
The Ministry of Coal will launch the 14th round of commercial coal mine auctions, offering both fully and partially explored blocks. For the first time, underground coal gasification will be included in the auction framework to support cleaner extraction. The Ministry will also introduce a coal land management portal to digitise acquisition and rehabilitation processes and launch the Koyla Shakti dashboard to integrate India’s coal supply chain data. These initiatives aim to enhance transparency, efficiency, and investor confidence in the coal sector.
Rashmi Group to invest Rs 100 billion in integrated steel and power project in WB
Rashmi Group plans to invest Rs 100 billion in a 2.8 million tonne integrated steel plant and 400 MW captive power plant in Purulia, West Bengal. The state has allotted 938 acres for the project, which supports its industrial growth strategy. The Kolkata-based group operates manufacturing units in Kharagpur and Jhargram and exports iron ore fines to China and Southeast Asia.
President Murmu urges inclusive solar growth at ISA Assembly
President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the 8th session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly in New Delhi, calling for inclusive solar growth that reaches women, farmers, and small islands. She noted that India has over 120 GW of installed solar capacity and aims for 500 GW of non-fossil capacity by 2030. The event also saw the launch of the Solar Upcycling Network and an MoU between ISA and the World Bank to accelerate solar adoption. Renewable firms report strong profit growth in latest quarter
India’s renewable companies reported higher earnings and margins for FY 2025-26. NTPC Green Energy’s net profit rose to Rs 88 crore, while Adani Green Energy’s profit increased 25% to Rs 644 crore. IREDA’s revenue reached Rs 20.57 billion with a 41% rise in profit, and loan sanctions jumped 145%. Waaree Renewable Technologies and Saatvik Green Energy also posted strong revenue and EBITDA growth.

TNB and SGCC sign MoU to modernise Malaysia’s power grid
Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has signed an MoU with China’s State Grid Corporation through its subsidiary CET to support Malaysia’s grid modernisation. The collaboration will focus on smart networks, digitalisation, and artificial intelligence in power systems. A joint committee will oversee technical studies and capacity building. TNB said the partnership will help strengthen Malaysia’s role in the ASEAN Power Grid and build a more efficient, low-carbon electricity network.
