REMC awards 1 GW RTC tender at uniform tariff of Rs 4.35 per kWh

REMC Limited has awarded its 1 GW round the clock renewable energy tender at a uniform tariff of Rs 4.35 per kWh. The bidding process started in August 2025 and drew nine participants. ACME Solar Holdings secured the full 1,000 MW. ReNew Power and Bhalki Solar Power won 200 MW each, while Purvah Green Power received 180 MW, Jindal Green 150 MW, and Ayana Renewables 140 MW. Several firms did not qualify due to the cutoff tariff. 

Tata Power and DGPC sign commercial agreements for Dorjilung project

Tata Power and Druk Green Power Corporation have signed commercial agreements for the 1,125 MW Dorjilung hydropower project in Bhutan. The project will be executed through an SPV with DGPC holding 60 per cent and Tata Power holding 40 per cent. Tata Power plans to invest about Rs 1,572 crore in phases. Dorjilung will have six units of 187.5 MW and six hours of pondage and is scheduled for commissioning in September 2031. Eighty per cent of its output will be supplied to India. 

GameChange Solar to expand transformer manufacturing six fold in India

GameChange Solar will increase its transformer manufacturing capacity in India about six times through its new subsidiary GameChange BOS. The company has opened its first medium voltage transformer plant in Taloja with an annual capacity of 1,800 to 2,000 units. A second larger plant is planned and a third site is under review. Total output will rise six times and will serve export markets and India. The company entered transformers after customers highlighted a supply gap. 

Government prepares Bill to open civil nuclear sector to private players

The winter session of Parliament will consider a Bill to permit private players in the civil nuclear sector. The move will be taken up alongside the Atomic Energy Bill, 2025. Both focus on regulatory changes in the nuclear domain. The session begins on December 1 and ends on December 19.

CERC to hold hearing on value of X for wind and solar deviations

CERC will hold an online public hearing on December 3 to finalise the value of X used to calculate deviation percentages for wind and solar sellers under the 2024 regulations. The rules will apply from April 1, 2026. The hearing follows a consultation process launched on September 10. The deadline for comments was extended to October 17 after stakeholder requests. The value of X will guide deviation assessment for the next financial year.

TotalEnergies weighs sale of up to 6 per cent stake in Adani Green

TotalEnergies is considering selling up to 6 per cent of its holding in Adani Green Energy. The stake is valued at about USD1.14 billion. Adani Green may consider buying the shares. TotalEnergies invested USD2.5 billion in 2021 and its stake has appreciated to almost USD8 billion. The company is also reviewing sales of other Asian renewable assets as part of a broader cost reduction plan.

Kidston pumped hydro marks Australia’s first new grid addition in 40 years

The Kidston pumped hydro project has been added to the Australian Energy Market Operator system. The move allows energisation of the first 125 MW unit and begins detailed commissioning. The project converts two pits of the former Kidston Gold Mine into reservoirs and includes a dam, powerhouse cavern, tunnels, tailrace, and spillway. It provides eight hours of storage and fast start capability for the National Electricity Market. A 50 MW solar farm is already operating and plans include a wind farm and battery system.
