Bondada Engineering commissions 120 MWp solar capacity in December 2025

Bondada Engineering Limited commissioned 120.46 MWp of solar capacity in December 2025. The projects were developed for Paradigm IT, Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited and NLC India Limited across Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Sites include Dhule, Amaravati, Hingoli, Pathardi, Shevgaon, Kannad and Dharni in Maharashtra, and Neyveli in Tamil Nadu. The company said its commissioning volumes have doubled month on month for the last two months due to stronger execution, better management and improved efficiency.

NLDC issues roadmap to expand Automatic Generation Control to renewables, BESS and PSP

The National Load Despatch Centre of Grid-India has released a consultation paper on expanding Automatic Generation Control to Renewable Energy Generating Stations, Battery Energy Storage Systems and Pumped Storage Plants. Issued on 31 December 2025, it seeks comments by 31 January 2026 and follows directions from the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission. About 219 units from 85 plants with 82.83 GW are currently on AGC, providing 1,500–2,000 MW of real time regulation. The paper builds on pilots at solar, BESS and PSP plants, proposes technical and commercial structures, and calls for wider participation to support frequency stability as renewable capacity grows.

Grid-India issues paper on grid-forming inverter technology

Grid-India has published a discussion paper on grid-forming inverter technology, comparing it with grid-following systems and inviting comments until 28 February 2026. It places the subject within India’s renewable growth, noting 1,71,156 MW of variable renewable capacity as of 31 July 2025 and several large disturbance events linked to weak grid conditions. The document explains how grid-forming inverters can provide voltage and frequency support and improve system resilience. It cites simulation studies, global experience and recommends pilots, possible mandates for large BESS and alignment of standards.

Juniper Green secures Rs 20.39 billion debt funding for new projects

Juniper Green Energy Limited has raised Rs 20.39 billion in debt financing from domestic and international lenders for its upcoming renewable projects. NaBFID has sanctioned Rs 5.66 billion for the 90 MW Juniper Green Kite wind project in Gujarat, while HSBC has provided Rs 4.08 billion for the 75 MW Juniper Green Beam Eight hybrid project in Maharashtra. DBS and Barclays have approved Rs 3.00 billion and Rs 2.50 billion, and Aseem Infrastructure Finance has extended Rs 5.15 billion for another hybrid project. The company has also expanded non fund based limits and recently began operating 60 MWh of a planned 100 MWh BESS in Rajasthan.

RFP issued for WR ER inter regional transmission expansion projects

REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited has invited RFPs to select developers for two parts of the Western Region Eastern Region Inter Regional Network Expansion Scheme. The Ministry of Power appointed the company as Bid Process Coordinator through a September 2025 notification and two special entities were formed in November 2025 to run the bids. The projects will follow the Build, Own, Operate and Transfer model for 35 years before transfer to the Central Transmission Utility. The scheme includes major 765 kV and 400 kV assets across Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Odisha, aims to ease corridor loading and support power evacuation, with bids due on 06 March 2026.

Adani Green Energy forms three new renewable energy subsidiaries

Adani Green Energy Limited has created three new step down subsidiaries through Adani Renewable Energy Holding Eleven Limited. The new companies are Adani Ecogen Seven Limited, Adani Ecogen Eight Limited and Adani Ecogen Six Limited, incorporated on 02 January, 05 January and 06 January 2026 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Each has authorised and paid up capital of Rs 1,00,000, has not started operations and has no turnover. Their objective is renewable generation and related activities, with the company stating there is no acquisition cost or related party transaction involved.

Senvion India 4.2M160 wind turbine added to ALMM (Wind) list

Senvion India’s 4.2M160 turbine has been included in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers Wind issued on 30 December 2025. The turbine has a 4.2 MW rating and a 160 metre rotor, with approval up to 140 metre hub height. The company said it already has firm orders of more than 600 MW and a three year 2 GW framework agreement. It highlighted over 85 percent localisation, design for Indian conditions, advanced monitoring and AI based controls.

Tata Power to set up 10 GW ingot and wafer plant in Andhra Pradesh

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited will build a 10 GW ingot and wafer facility in Nellore with an investment of Rs 6,675 crore approved by the State Investment Promotion Board. The unit will be located in the IFFCO Kisan Special Economic Zone with 200 acres allotted including future expansion. It will support solar manufacturing, create about 1,000 direct jobs, develop a 200 MW captive renewable plant and strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s industrial base. The announcement comes alongside other major investments and local concerns around land linked renewable projects in parts of Nellore district.

Japan begins commercial operations at first floating offshore wind farm

Japan has started commercial operations at its first floating offshore wind project near Goto City in Nagasaki Prefecture. The project has 16.8 MW capacity from eight turbines of 2.1 MW each and uses a hybrid spar floating structure designed by TODA Corporation. Development followed designation in 2019, tendering in 2020, company formation in 2021, approvals in 2022 and commissioning in January 2026. Power will mainly support local consumers, with regional firms involved in construction and operations, and the project aligns with Japan’s plans to raise renewable and offshore wind shares in its power mix.
