Port of Açu Operações and Yamna Co Ltd have signed a land reservation agreement to develop a green ammonia project at the Port of Açu’s industrial complex in northeast Rio de Janeiro State.
The agreement reserves two million square meters for green hydrogen initiatives, adding to the one million square meters already licensed at the port.
The Port of Açu, owned by Prumo Logística and Port of Antwerp-Bruges International, plays a key role in mining and port logistics. Yamna plans to build a plant at the site with a production capacity of up to one million tons of green ammonia annually. The company expects to make a final investment decision by 2027 and begin production in 2030.
Yamna focuses on developing green hydrogen projects worldwide to support the transition to sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels. The Port of Açu, part of the Prumo Group, is managed in collaboration with Port of Antwerp-Bruges International and under the guidance of EIG Partners.
