The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY) has achieved 630,000 rooftop solar installations, averaging 70,000 installations per month.
The initiative aims to surpass 1 million installations by March 2025 and reach 10 million by 2027.
Key states such as Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala, and Uttar Pradesh have shown significant progress due to robust infrastructure and effective coordination.
Early resolution of challenges like load enhancements and regulatory approvals has ensured smooth implementation.
By November 2024, Rs 31 billion in subsidies had been disbursed to over 400,000 households.
The scheme’s dedicated portal streamlines the process for consumers, enabling online applications, vendor selection, subsidy redemption, and loan applications.
Approximately 28 per cent of participating households report zero electricity bills, encouraging wider adoption.
