PM Modi lays foundation, inaugurates Rajasthan transmission projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone for an interstate transmission project and inaugurated another in Rajasthan to strengthen power evacuation from the state’s renewable energy zones. The two projects, with a combined value of over Rs 4,645 crore, are designed to support the integration of renewable energy into the national grid.

The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Phase-IV (Part-2: 5.5 GW) (Jaisalmer/Barmer Complex): Part-F.

The project, estimated at approximately Rs 2,735 crore, is being executed by POWERGRID Barmer I Transmission Limited. It is designed to support 5.5 GW of renewable energy capacity and includes the construction of 527 ckm of transmission lines and a substation capacity of 5,500 MVA.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated the Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from Rajasthan REZ (20 GW) under Phase-III: Part-H.

The project, executed by POWERGRID Beawar Dausa Transmission Limited, is valued at over Rs 1,910 crore and comprises 606.6 ckm of transmission lines. It forms part of the broader 20 GW Phase-III transmission scheme for Rajasthan.

The events were attended by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri and other senior dignitaries.

The projects are expected to strengthen transmission infrastructure for evacuating renewable energy from Rajasthan’s solar-rich regions and support the expansion of clean energy capacity.
