O2 Power has secured an order to develop an 800 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) under the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited’s competitive bidding for the firm dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE VI) program.
The BESS project will be located near an operational substation in Rajasthan, taking advantage of the state’s abundant solar and land resources. It will use existing evacuation infrastructure to minimize delays and combine battery storage with solar power to deliver firm power during non-solar peak hours.
The project is expected to be commissioned within 24 months of signing the power purchase agreement.
