The Union Minister for Power and Housing and Urban Affairs inaugurated NTPC’s Green Hydrogen Mobility Project in Leh.
It includes a 1.7 MW in-situ solar plant, a green hydrogen filling station with 80 kg/day capacity, and five intra-city hydrogen buses.
Designed for high-altitude operations at 3,650 meters above sea level, the buses can travel 300 km on a single 25 kg hydrogen fill, with refuelling at 350 bar pressure.
Leveraging Ladakh’s high solar irradiance and low temperatures, the project enhances solar and green hydrogen production, aiming to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and improve energy self-sufficiency in the region.
Author: PPD Team Date: November 6, 2024 India is overhauling its electricity demand forecasting approach to better align generation capacity with actual needs and support grid stability amid growing clean energy volumes. The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) is collaborating with weather agencies for enhanced environmental data and plans to increase forecast frequency, transitioning from assessments every five years to a two-year and eventually annual schedule, according to Chairperson Ghanshyam Prasad. Rising usage of intermittent solar…

Author: PPD Team Date: February 17, 2025 According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), global electricity demand is projected to grow by 4% each year until 2027, equating to more than Japan’s total consumption. This growth will be primarily offset by the expansion of low-emissions energy sources, such as renewables and nuclear power. Emerging and developing economies will account for 85% of this demand growth, with China leading the charge. China’s power demand is expected…
