NTPC clears Rs 2,444 crore for NEEPCO projects, waste-to-charcoal facilities

NTPC Limited has announced that its Board of Directors, in a meeting held on September 26, 2025, approved an equity infusion of up to Rs 2,444.39 crore in North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO), a wholly owned subsidiary. The funds will support three hydro projects and one solar project.

The board also cleared proposals from Aravali Power Company Private Limited (APCPL), a joint venture between NTPC, Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited (HPGCL), and Indraprastha Power Generation Company Limited (IPGCL). The projects include a municipal solid waste (MSW) to torrefied charcoal facility with a capacity of 1,200 tonnes per day (TPD) in Faridabad, Haryana, at an estimated cost of Rs 365.40 crore, and a 1,500 TPD MSW-to-charcoal plant in Gurugram, Haryana, at a cost of Rs 414.10 crore.
