NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and Bharat Light and Power Private Limited (BLP) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to advance green energy initiatives and support India’s carbon neutrality goals. The agreement focuses on exploring the off-take of green hydrogen and its derivatives from NGEL and its affiliates to third parties.
Both companies will also assess opportunities for selling captured carbon or biogenic carbon from NGEL’s operations. As part of the collaboration, NGEL, either directly or through its affiliates, will develop the necessary infrastructure for green hydrogen production, including renewable energy projects. The company will oversee operations under the Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model to meet its Net Zero commitments.
In November 2024, NGEL and Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited formed a 50:50 joint venture, MAHAGENCO NTPC Green Energy Private Limited, to develop, operate, and maintain renewable energy parks in Maharashtra under the ultra mega renewable energy power parks scheme.
