North Shore Community Health (NSCH), based in Massachusetts, has signed a two-year renewable energy agreement with ENGIE Resources, a subsidiary of ENGIE North America.
The agreement ensures NSCH will receive renewable energy credits (RECs) to match 100% of the forecasted energy consumption across its three locations in Salem, Peabody, and Gloucester.
NSCH, a federally qualified health center serving 14,000 patients annually, provides primary care, dental, behavioral health, and substance use disorder services.
The green-e-certified RECs will offset the CO₂ emissions equivalent to burning 302,325 pounds of coal or recycling 95.3 tonnes of waste. This aligns with NSCH’s broader sustainability initiatives, including energy-efficient lighting, motion sensors in exam rooms, environmentally friendly dining practices, and a hybrid working model to reduce commuting emissions.
NSCH President and CEO Maggie Brennan emphasized the organization’s commitment to sustainability as a step toward healthier communities. The agreement also offers budget stability with a fixed pricing structure.
Ted Conway, business development manager at ENGIE Resources, highlighted NSCH’s dual role in providing vital health services and supporting renewable energy initiatives, aligning with ENGIE’s work with over 200 hospitals.
