NHPC approves 1,200 MW Jalaun solar park in Uttar Pradesh

The Board of Directors of NHPC Limited has approved the development of a 1,200 MW solar power park in Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh.
The project will be implemented by Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited (BSUL), a joint venture between NHPC and the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA). It is part of the Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park (UMREPP) scheme of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
The solar park will be spread across three sites in Jalaun district: 600 MW at Madhogarh on 2,608 acres, 300 MW at Orai on 2,993 acres, and 300 MW at Patrahai on 2,000 acres. The estimated project cost is Rs 7,969.6 million.
Additionally, NHPC has approved raising up to Rs 20 billion for the financial year 2025-26 through the issuance of unsecured, redeemable, taxable, non-convertible, non-cumulative AF-Series bonds via private placement.
