NHPC achieves DT-3 breakthrough at 2,880 MW Dibang project

NHPC officials and engineers inside Diversion Tunnel-3 at the 2,880 MW Dibang Multipurpose Project after the February 17, 2026 breakthrough, holding Indian flags and wearing safety helmets.

NHPC Limited has completed the daylighting of Diversion Tunnel-3 (DT-3) at the 2,880 MW Dibang Multipurpose Project on February 17, 2026, marking a key construction milestone.

The final blast for the tunnel breakthrough was initiated remotely by Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects), NHPC Limited (NHPC), by pressing the control button. The event was held in the presence of Narender Kumar, Executive Director and Head of Project – Dibang Multipurpose Project (HoP–DMP), Umesh Kumar Nand, Executive Director (PMSG), and other officials from NHPC and Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T).

With the completion of DT-3 daylighting, the project advances to the next phase of construction. Addressing the gathering, Singh acknowledged the efforts of workers, engineers and stakeholders involved in achieving the milestone. He stated that NHPC and its associate contractors would continue working in coordination to meet the remaining milestones of the Dibang Multipurpose Project and target timely completion.
