MEIL wins EPC contract for Kaiga nuclear units 5 and 6

Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) has secured a contract worth Rs 127,869.35 million for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of Kaiga Nuclear Power Plant Units 5 and 6.
The contract was awarded by Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) on April 23, 2025. NPCIL had invited bids for the project in May 2023.
The 1,400 MW nuclear project is being developed as Phase III of the Kaiga plant in Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka. It will add two units to the existing four units. Phase I and II, each comprising 2×220 MW, were fully commissioned by 2011.
The EPC scope includes design, supply, inspection, fabrication, civil works, erection, testing, commissioning, initial operation and maintenance under the nuclear island mega EPC package (NIMEP).
