L&T Energy GreenTech Ltd (LTEG), a subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro (L&T), will develop India’s largest green hydrogen plant at Indian Oil Corporation Ltd’s (IOCL) Panipat Refinery in Haryana. According to a company statement, the plant will supply 10,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually to IOCL for 25 years.
The project will be implemented on a build-own-operate (BOO) model and is aligned with the Government of India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission.
Green hydrogen will be produced using high-pressure alkaline electrolysers manufactured by L&T Electrolysers Ltd at its facility in Hazira, Gujarat.
The Panipat project is expected to serve as a model for industrial-scale green hydrogen deployment across refineries and other hard-to-abate sectors. LTEG’s entry into large-scale green hydrogen production marks a significant step in India’s energy transition and reinforces L&T’s position in clean energy infrastructure development.
