Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has invited bids for two packages under the Dyuthi 2.0 scheme for upgrading the state’s electricity distribution network.

The tenders, issued on March 25 and March 28, 2025, cover the material supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of low-tension (LT) line works using covered conductor rabbit on a turnkey basis. The last dates for bid submission are April 11 and April 19, 2025, respectively.

The projects are expected to be completed in 90 days, with Package 1 estimated at Rs 146.31 million and Package 2 at Rs 105.15 million. These works form part of the larger Dyuthi 2.0 initiative, which has a total proposed capital expenditure (CAPEX) of Rs 47.16 billion, including a Rs 10.23 billion special package for Malappuram, Idukki, and Kasaragod districts.

KSEB has accelerated Dyuthi 2.0 to enhance the network’s ability to handle uninterrupted supply and peak demand, particularly during the summer months. In August 2024, the board decided to revert to its original financial plan of Rs 80.35 billion after initially limiting the work to Rs 25.7 billion due to financial constraints. It also recommended immediate action to implement the Rs 10.23 billion special package and planned to initiate Dyuthi 2.0 works for 2025-26 in April 2025 for completion by September.

The National Electricity Plan 2022-32 projects Kerala’s annual electricity requirement to rise to 33,903 MU by 2026-27 and 42,885 MU by 2030-31, with peak demand reaching 5,549 MW and 6,967 MW, respectively.

Dyuthi 2.0 follows the Rs 40.36 billion Dyuthi 1.0 scheme (2018-2022) and aims to strengthen Kerala’s distribution network further to reduce losses and ensure reliable power supply.
