K2 Infragen Limited has won an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract from KPI Green Energy Limited for the 67.61 MWp capacity under the 300 MW Khavda Solar PV Project – Phase XXI in Gujarat.
The contract, awarded on March 25, 2025, includes the supply of Balance of System (BoS) materials.
KPI Green Energy had earlier secured the Letter of Award (LoA) for the 300 MW Khavda Solar PV Project in November 2024. The project was initially bid out by Coal India Limited (CIL) in October 2024. CIL won the contract in January 2024 with a tariff of Rs 2.55 per kWh under Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited’s (GUVNL) Phase XXI. A 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) has been signed between CIL and GUVNL.
The project is expected to be commissioned within 21 months from the PPA execution or the commissioning of the associated transmission system at Khavda Pooling Station-2 (KPS-2), whichever comes earlier. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 15.21 billion. It involves setting up 300 MW of grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity across 1,350 acres under the first phase of the 2,375 MW Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited (GIPCL) Renewable Energy Park at Rann of Kutch.
In a separate development, KPI Green Energy’s subsidiary, Sun Drops Energia Private Limited, secured Letters of Award (LoAs) for a total of 13.8 MW of solar power projects under the Captive Power Producer (CPP) segment in India. The projects, awarded on March 25, 2025, are part of the Distributed Renewable Energy Bilateral Purchase (DREBP) Policy under Gujarat’s Renewable Energy Policy-2023 and the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission’s (GERC) tariff orders No. 5 and 6 of 2024. These projects will be executed in multiple phases and are expected to be completed in FY 2026.
