JSW Energy Limited has completed the commissioning of the third and final 80 MW unit at its Kutehr Hydroelectric Power Plant in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh. This comes just days after the company began power dispatch from the project’s first 80 MW unit. Electricity from the entire 240 MW capacity is now being supplied to Haryana.

The project operates under a 35-year power purchase agreement with Haryana Power Purchase Centre at a levelised ceiling tariff of Rs 4.50/kWh. Power will be delivered to the state’s distribution utilities, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam.

Commissioning of Kutehr, alongside recent wind capacity additions, has increased JSW Energy’s installed capacity to 13,020 MW from 10,875 MW at the end of FY25. Hydro capacity now totals 1,631 MW, with renewables making up 57 per cent of the company’s portfolio.

JSW Energy has 30.3 GW of locked-in generation capacity, including 13 GW operational and 12.7 GW under construction, and 29.4 GWh of energy storage capacity through pumped storage and battery projects. The company aims to reach 30 GW of generation and 40 GWh of storage by FY 2030, and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
