JSW Energy commissions 250 MW renewable capacity
JSW Energy Limited has commissioned around 250 MW of renewable energy capacity since April 2026, taking its total installed generation capacity to 13.7 GW.
The newly added capacity includes 130 MW of wind power, 69.4 MW of solar power, and 50 MW from Unit I of the Tidong Hydro Plant.
Following the latest commissioning, renewable energy now accounts for 59% of the company’s overall installed capacity. This includes 3,924 MW of wind capacity, including hybrid projects, 2,440 MW of solar capacity, including hybrid projects, and 1,681 MW of hydro capacity.
The company stated that Unit I of the Tidong Hydro Plant was commissioned within a short period after the project’s acquisition in January 2026. According to JSW Energy, the commissioning reflects the company’s execution capabilities and integration of acquired assets. The remaining two units of the hydro project are expected to be commissioned by June 2026.
JSW Energy said its total locked-in generation capacity currently stands at 32.1 GW. Of this, 13.7 GW is operational, 13.8 GW is under construction across thermal, hydro, and renewable projects, while 4.6 GW remains in the development pipeline.
The company plans to add around 3 GW of renewable energy capacity during FY27 and expects to incur capital expenditure of approximately Rs 20,000 crore during the fiscal year.
In the energy storage segment, JSW Energy’s locked-in storage capacity stands at 29.6 GWh, comprising 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro storage and 3.2 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS).
The company has set a target of achieving 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030. It has also reiterated its goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
